FAQs:

  1. Why are preservatives necessary in HI&I cleaning formulations?
Preservatives are essential in HI&I cleaning formulations to prevent the growth of harmful microorganisms, such as bacteria, fungi, and molds. They extend the shelf life of products and ensure they remain safe and effective over time.

  2. How do I choose the right preservative for my HI&I cleaning formulation?
The choice of preservative depends on various factors, including the formulation’s other ingredients, pH level, and intended use. It's crucial to consult with a chemist or formulator to select the most suitable preservative for your specific formulation. Contact your Barentz Technical Account Executive for more information.

  3. How can I ensure the preservatives in my HI&I cleaning formulation remain effective throughout the product's shelf life?
Regular stability testing, microbial challenge testing, and adherence to recommended storage conditions are crucial to ensure that preservatives remain effective throughout a product's shelf life. These tests help assess the product's microbial resistance and longevity.

  4. Can I use multiple preservatives in my HI&I cleaning formulation for better protection?
Yes, using a combination of preservatives (a preservative system) can provide broader protection against various microorganisms. However, it's essential to ensure compatibility and effectiveness through testing and consultation with experts. The Barentz Technical Laboratory Solutions Center can help you with any questions or concerns regarding the compatibility and effectiveness of preservative systems.

  5. Can I reduce the amount of preservatives in my formulation to make it more natural?
While reducing preservatives may be desirable for a more natural product, it must be done carefully. A thorough microbial challenge test and stability testing are essential to determine the minimum effective preservative concentration to maintain product safety and shelf life.

  6. Are there regulations and guidelines for using preservatives in HI&I cleaning products?
Yes, regulatory bodies like the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) in the United States and similar agencies in other countries have guidelines and regulations regarding the use of preservatives in cleaning products. It's essential to comply with these regulations to ensure product safety and legality. Contact your Barentz Technical Account Executive for more information.

  7. How do I label products that contain preservatives in accordance with regulatory requirements?
Ensure that your product labels comply with local regulations and accurately list all preservatives used. This typically involves including the preservative names and concentrations, along with any safety precautions or handling instructions. Barentz offers formulary and regulatory support. Contact the team today if you need assistance.

  8. Are there any CleanGredients.org listed preservatives; how can they benefit my cleaning product formulation?
