VESTOPLAST Amorphous poly-alpha-olefins (APAOs)
With VESTOPLAST amorphous poly-alpha-olefins, Evonik offers a broad range of co- and terpolymers of ethene, propene and 1-butene as raw material for hot melt adhesives and various other applications. Due to Evonik’s unique production process, they are able to design polymers with optimal values for properties such as hardness, cohesion, melt viscosity, crystallinity, and rate of crystallization. Due to its amorphous and partly crystalline character, VESTOPLAST APAOs have a low density of around 0.86 g/cm³. In addition to regular, pure thermoplastic grades, they also offer unique reactive, silane-modified amorphous poly-alpha-olefins. The following are just some of the benefits in using VESTOPLAST.
• Excellent adhesion and hot tack properties
• Bonding to various substrates, especially on polypropylene without pretreatment
• Good cohesion and high thermal stability
• Excellent moisture and gas barrier behavior
• Very good hydrolytic and UV stability
• Chemical resistance, e.g. against battery acid
• Low density
VESTOPLAST is a valuable ingredient for a broad range of applications and is one of the major resins used for hot melt adhesives. Typical hot melt applications are wood working, hygiene, packaging, automotive, and textiles. Other applications include bitumen modification, wire & cable, sealants, and mattress construction.
