1,3 Dioxolane, often referred to simply as Dioxolane, is a powerful solvent used in a variety of formulations, production processes, or as a reactant. It comes in a color-free liquid form, with an odor reminiscent of Ether. It's able to quickly dissolve polar polymers like epoxies, polyesters, and urethanes, since its small size allows for rapid penetration. The solvent's low boiling point of 75-76 C allows it to dry quickly. 1,3 Dioxolane gets used as an intermediary in preparing Acyclovir-d4 and in synthesizing new Vandetanib (V097100) analogs. It’s a popular solvent for fats, oils, dyes, and waxes. The chemical is also used in lithium batteries. Other popular applications for the solvent include textiles, electroplating and metal working, the gas scrubbing process, softening and/or dissolving polymers, inorganic and organometallic systems, and petroleum and gasoline production. 1,3 Dioxolane is soluble in Dichloromethane, Chloroform, Methanol, Ethanol, and Ethyl Acetate. 1,3 Dioxolane price can vary.
Butylal is very useful for industrial cleaning applications given its strong solvency and excellent toxicity profiles. Butylal is a C9 acetal with a high flash point (62 deg C). Butylal is an excellent solvent for applications similar to D-limonene. It has a pleasant fruity aroma, making it an ideal choice for cleaning systems.

Anhydrous methylal has a maximum water content of 0.03% water. Methylal is an Acetal solvent (-30 degC flash point) that is manufactured from Methanol. It has high solubility power and tends to significantly lower the surface tension of formulations, making it an ideal solvent choice. It is used in applications including paint strippers, cleaners, cosmetic manufacturing, aerosols, and urethane foam manufacturing. As with all Acetals, it has an extremely low toxicity profile and is sustainable from an atmospheric chemistry perspective.
CAS#: 109-87-5
Cosmetic grade methylal has a maximum water content of 0.5% water and a maximum methanol content of 0.0001%. It is commonly used as a solvent for flavors and scented oils in personal care formulations given its strong solvency power. It is especially useful in aersol formulations given its surface tension lowering properties to improve dispersion and lower droplet size.
