Rheological additive for printing inks
BENTONE 128 rheological additive is a special organically modified bentonite clay designed for non-polar printing inks based on naphtenic and paraffinic solvents and oils. It will also gel inks containing solvent of intermediate polarity.
Key Properties:
- is specifically designed for printing inks, and unlike other gelling agents, it requires less shearing action than conventional organoclays to impart ultimate viscosity
- reduces misting
- increases plastic viscosity and "Yield Value" of inks without excessive increase in tack and thixotropy
- prevents excessive penetration of the ink into porous substrates
- imparts particle suspension, preventing agglomeration
- allows the ink manufacturer to produce low tack inks at relatively high viscosity
- improves sharpness of printing and reproduction of printing inks
- prevents flooding and floating of tint colors
Applications:
- Heatset web offset inks
- Sheetfed offset inks
- Letterpress inks
- News inks
- Rubber base inks
- Ultra-violet curable inks
