BioNat - Enzyme Technology
In the world of laundry care, achieving spotless garments is not only about using a detergent. Enzymes are essential in breaking down tough stains and maintaining fabric integrity. These small but powerful helpers are the unsung heroes in laundry formulations and revolutionized how we approach cleanliness.
One of the most complicated parts of formulating with enzymes, however, is understanding which enzymes need to be incorporated into your formulation and their dosage rates. Barentz offers multiple enzyme blends and enzyme/surfactant blends to help take the guesswork out of laundry care formulating, including our brand new BioNat® 400 L, a 4-enzyme mix.
Understanding Enzyme Blends:
Enzymes are natural catalysts that speed up chemical reactions without being used up in the process. In laundry formulations, enzymes target specific types of stains such as proteins, fats, or carbohydrates and facilitate their breakdown into smaller, soluble fragments. However, different stains require different enzymes for effective removal, which is where enzyme blends come into play.Enzyme blends are a combination of various enzymes that are carefully selected to address a wide range of stains that we encounter in our daily laundry challenges. For instance, proteases are effective in tackling protein-based stains such as blood or grass stains. Mannanases, on the other hand, are excellent at removing mannan-containing stains like barbeque sauce, ice cream, and chocolate. Amylases target carbohydrates found in starches like pasta or rice, while cellulases can help maintain fabric life and combat greying and fading in white and colors. By combining these enzymes, formulators can effectively combat diverse stains while ensuring thorough cleanliness with minimal damage to fabrics.
